What is Yohimbe
Yohimbe is an herbal supplement that contains an alkaloid chemical Yohimbine. Yohimbe comes from the bark of an evergreen tree that is located in central and western Africa. Yohimbe has been used by many women and men for an array of different health benefits from erectile dysfunction to weight loss. Yohimbe was used in African traditional medicine to help improve sexual performance, leprosy, fever and coughs. Yohimbe can increase blood pressure due to the increase of blood vessel dilation therefore increasing blood flow to the body.

Many think that Yohimbe is a natural aphrodisiac. For men with erectile dysfunction several have seen some aid by using Yohimbe. How about the benefits of Yohimbe for weight loss and burning fat. Yohimbe blocks the receptors alpha-2 adrenergic which are found in the fat cells of the body. This fat burning compound may help those looking for fat loss, losing weight and a better body composition. One study used 20 obese females in which half received 5mg of Yohimbine four times a day and the other half received a placebo both groups with a 1,000 kcal diet per day. This study revealed an increase in weight loss for those taking Yohimbine, therefore concluding it may help those overweight. In another study with elite male soccer athletes they found a decrease in body fat percentage when using Yohimbine supplementation. (4) Yohimbe may be beneficial for fat loss and weight loss. (5)
Yohimbe Products and Dosage
You can find Yohimbe on the market today contained in several supplements or by themselves in both capsule and tablet formulas. There are several products containing Yohimbe for sale at Racer Ephedra including Pure Ephedra 100, Green Stinger and Metabotrol. It can also have the name Yohimbine or Yohimbine Bark Extract as the ingredient. Dosage for Yohimbine have been reported as 15-30 mg daily to assist in sexual performance. It is also reported that using a dosage of up to 100 mg per day may produce serious side effects.
Side Effects of Yohimbe
Yohimbe can have side effects including but not limited to anxiety, bloating, high blood pressure, headache, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, sinus pain, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, sleep issues, frequent urination, and rash. Some more severe side effects include irregular or rapid heartbeat, kidney failure, seizure, and heart attack. If you take MAOIs for depression you should not take Yohimbe.
